Account Manager, Compute & Enterprise Division
Own customer accounts and grow CDS’s enterprise compute business across servers, storage, backup, hyperconverged infrastructure, virtualisation, cloud and software.
About the role
An account-leadership role in CDS’s Compute & Enterprise Division. You own a set of customer accounts, build the division’s enterprise compute portfolio and bottom line, and are the single point of contact for your customers’ compute and data requirements.
Territory coverage

Achieve the business objectives set for the financial year, or the part of it you join in.

Find new sales opportunities through cold calling, lead generation, customer meetings and product presentations.

Build the business unit’s enterprise compute solutions portfolio and deliver its bottom line.
- 04
Work with the OEM to build the sales, pre-sales and post-sales skills the role requires.

Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with OEMs, distributors and vendors.

Track emerging trends in your business unit and proactively build the assets, tools, skills and capabilities that keep CDS relevant and essential to its customers.

Prepare proposals with the SBU head, pre-sales engineers and the service delivery team, arriving at technically viable and financially sound value propositions for solution deals.

Support the sales team on calls, help close sales, and resolve customer queries, complaints and escalations. Work with the team to establish best practices.

Meet monthly, quarterly and annual targets, and close new business by coordinating requirements, negotiating contracts and aligning partner needs with operations, while keeping payments and receivables within agreed limits.
Customer relationships and OEM management

Handle sales and manage existing and future business customers.
- 02
Own end-to-end account management, drive customer satisfaction, and be the single point of contact for your customers’ enterprise compute requirements.

Streamline and follow processes and systems, and give management insight on strengthening customer relationships and service.

Work with your OEM’s partner account managers and relationship managers to generate leads.
Skills and capabilities
- 01
Experience in sales, business development, solution sales or account management, with excellent customer-handling skills in a corporate, customer-facing role.
- 02
A good understanding of enterprise compute solutions: compute, servers, storage, backup, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), virtualisation, cloud and software.
- 03
A thorough understanding of IT infrastructure and how its components connect, with expertise in your own business unit.
- 04
The ability to identify enterprise solution opportunities and size the requirement.
- 05
The ability to create a business plan to achieve business objectives, and to follow it through.
- 06
Systems and design thinking, with exposure to consultative selling.
